Wallace decided not to tell her. He just sat there, suppressing his mockery, lips set in a perfect line,

Amanda tilted her head, a bit confused. "Is something wrong? You got all quiet?" She looked like a puppy at this point with her head cocked in confusion.

"You haven't changed a bit, you know that?" Wallace said, beaming uncontrollably.

"Really?" Amanda's head was at a normal angle again. The cream jiggled a bit as her head moved.

He gently tapped the ball of his nose, trying to lend her a hint.

She slowly rose her hand, mimicking the action. "Oh, crap!" Her cheeks reddening to the point where the color matched that of a rose's. Quickly wiped off the remainder of the cream, she giggled a bit. "I guess you're right. I haven't changed much!"

"I'm not even really sure how you managed that!" He eyed the rim of his empty cup. "Polished it off rather quickly, could barely see you."

She winked in response, "A great eater never reveals her secrets."

"That's what she..." He cut himself off, smile vanishing. "Excuse me."

Amanda continued laughed though, "You're still kinda pervy! I thought only kids said that!"

"It was right there! I'm sorry!" He'd kept one hand on the cup for a majority of the visit. "Couldn't resist."

There was a silence on her part for a minute.

"That's what she said!" She proclaimed.

"Yes, that definitely made sense," he jabbed.

"B-but you said you couldn't resist and-..." She trailed off, leaving her failed attempt at the joke for Wallace's own interpretation.

"And I was never pervy! What are you talking about?"

"You say it like you're so dignified! Pervy!" She mock-repeated how he said the word, but with more of a snobby teen twist to it.

"But yeah, you're right. Spur of the moment response, you know?" Another half smile.

An even better comeback then struck him over the head like a stray pebble from a dirt road. "For heaven's sake. You were the one who practically molested me that time you found my college. I'm perverted?"

Amanda was dumbstruck, but then she got one of her infamous Cheshire Cat grins. "This may be true, but remind me, which of us said we were gay?"

"Who believed me?"

Amanda turned her focus to the crack in the floor by their feet as if it were the most interesting thing she had ever come across. Reddening in the cheeks once again, she mumbled her answer.

Wallace sneered, canines protruding over his lower teeth as they always did. "What was that?"

"You're a good actor!" Amanda whined, but then her expression, similar to that of an upset toddler, was replaced with a sneer to match his. "And we all expected it."

Wallace gave an overemphasized shrug. "I was a fruit," he restated.

She chuckled, "You always... how to say... cockblocked yourself."
