Serenity laughed again. "You wouldn't have been able to say that all that long ago, but you're very kind. Thank you."

"Certainly!" The invalid smiled again, revealing the wrinkles that had taken residence in his cheeks since the last time the two had seen each other. He gently pushed his glasses further up the straight bridge of his nose.

"My friend Angel would do that too.." Serenity mumbled, keeping the umbrella up. "He was a nice guy."

"Was he?"

"Yup! Until he graduated.. Men change, I guess. What about you? I'm talking about my whole life and you've barely said anything."

He drew a breath. "The less said, the better, I believe. I think I may have known a Rosensteel once, if that's anything."

"I don't think you're him." Serenity said. "Trust me.. He's not around anymore. It's really not possible. He went kind of crazy.."

"Oh?"

"I really don't want to talk about it. Where do you live, anyways, Mr. Astor? It's getting late."

"Oh, not far. A busride away."

"I'm going to go soon.. If you want my umbrella when I leave, you can have it. It doesn't feel right leaving you here in the rain."

"I likely won't stay much longer." Flecks of stray mist began to accumulate on his black lenses. That wouldn't do. He removed them, revealing the cold, glassy irises beneath surrounded by numerous raised scars. He took a tissue from his pocket -- one of many in a small package, the kind you could get for free with a flier for god knows what -- and wiped the glasses clean.

That closed it. It was him.
"I'm going to go. This is my phone number.. You should call me. Please." With that, she dropped her umbrella and walked off as fast as she could- to go call dat ho wit a weave made outta my little pony dolls.
