Olivia gave him a glare that could've broken every window in that old house. She had been so surreptitious about it, too! "Fuggoff... you."

"No." Boris sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "Why do you do this, Olivia?"

"Quit caring, at least I don't do it all the time anymore like I did anymore..." Olivia stretched out her arms with a yawn, then added, almost as an afterthought, "... like I did... anymore."

Boris stared at her. "You confuse me sometimes. And you know, you should at least wait for your kids to be at school."

"They're not gonna care, Boris. Really." She looked at him, into those purplish eyes, all her inebriated affection pouring out through her pupils. "Really! They won't care."

"It'll effect them, Olivia..." Boris pleaded. "Please, just don't drunk when they're here. It's just two months of your entire year. Okay?" he took her hands. "Luckily for you, you like.. developed some immunity to hangovers..."

She slumped over onto his shoulder. "Yeaaaah... That happened a while ago, I think... maybe... I mean, really! They're not going to CARE!"

He ran his finger down her face. "Yeah, they are. You're their mother. I'm sure it internally bothers them a lot. You don't want them developing the same habits, do you?"

"Damn."

Approximately two hours had passed since the epiphany had hit. A wall clock indicated that the time was now nearly six-and-two in the early morning. Within minutes, she'd be found in her present state: seated, with knees slightly elevated to fit, in the bathtub, naked, all exposed flesh an inch of the tub's bottom coated neatly, as if in marinate, in her own blood. Her heart still continued to beat at a toiling largo, and, more sparse than the beating, her chest would rise in an unconscious breath. Two hours since she'd fallen into syncope.

The drain had been closed of her own accord. She'd figured it might be more dramatic to be found in a pool of herself rather than as, simply, a shriveled husk. She had closed it before the incisions had been made, as to not strain the cuts and cause more pain than was necessary to endure. The bathroom door was left unlocked, but shut. She'd hung her dressing gown over the towel rack, neatly folded (folding was something she'd never enjoyed, though had become accustomed to over her past number of years as a wife) and precisely one centimeter away from the hand towel itself. For whatever reason, they kept a hand towel. Alex was usually the one to change it regularly during his long spans of sitting around the house during his breaks from school, being the only one to really notice such small details around the house. When he was away, the towel was only changed when either of them noticed that it had begun to wear, or spots appeared.

"Damn" had been her final word on the matter of the realization of her mistake. "Damn" had been all that was necessary. She would be the only one to hear it, even had she shouted at the top of her lungs. Not that she would have. Not that she'd have wanted to. Not that there was any reason. Even had her shouting woken him, she doubted he could have kept her from this end. He and all his cursing and berating, kissing, whatever. Had Elroy been there, he couldn't have done anything. Had Adrienne been there. Had Rachel Sawyer. Had Serenity. Had Kelsi, that ginger lass, had any of her coworkers, any of her drinking buddies, any of her ex-beaus. Had Alex, had Louise, had all her nieces and nephews -- even those she'd never personally met --, all the in-laws and second cousins and great-grandparents and mother and father and the cannibals and the officials and the minister himself -- who was the minister? -- and the men who ran the carousel each morning on Illumination and that old lady with her baskets of flowers and the professors and the liars and the cheats and her own blood type as it shouted to her from the basin (B Positive! Be Positive!) and the filthy rag beside her robe and the robe itself and the rug and the tile and the hallway and the old rickety house, or had Cedric Diggory dug himself loose from the soil, or had Amanda Summerfield finally given her that final, longing kiss she'd wanted that night on the clocktower with the man who was bleeding to death and the rising sun and all hell breaking loose below. Had Charlie been there, he'd have soon enough joined her in that tub. Angel would've read her a parting sonnet.

Damn! Damn that scummy razor. Damn all the previous. Damn this prolonged death, damn her laborous lungs and her hollow-beating heart. Damn that ticking clock. Damn, damn, damn, damn. Damn the impression she'd left on their mattress, damn the chill that blew into their window that night. Damn her deep-set arteries, and damn her for cutting half a millimeter too shallow, a whole millimeter to the left and to the right, respectively. Damn her chubby wrists.

Boris was still half asleep. But still, he had to pee. His eyes fazed with sleep, he opened the door and through the dark rummaged around to find the toilet. He did his business, and pulled his boxers back up. Then, he heard something like water dripping. He pulled out his wand, and lit it, eying the bathtub. In shock, he dropped his wand, and fell to his knees shaking. "O-Olivia..?" he whispered in a choked voice, picking up his wand. The light had gone out. His hands were trembling and he kept trying to catch the wand with his fingers. He became more frantic, finally giving up, and stumbling to the light. He turned it on, and his hands against the wall, turned around. "NO!" he hissed, running over to next the bathtub. He plunged his hands into the scarlet-infused water, causing swirls to part from his arms. He pulled her out, water and blood flying everywhere, dripping from his arms to the ground and drops landing upon his cheeks, which were already stained with his own tears. "No, no no no no!" he screamed, his voice breaking at the end. "What did you do?!" His whole body was shaking now, with dry, cracked sobs, as he hugged Olivia's nude body against him. "WHAT DID YOU DO?! he repeated, curling in a ball around her, and buried his face in her chest. Blood and water soaked through his shirt against his bare skin, causing goosebumps to run down his spine. "Please, please be okay!" he whispered, and began to kiss her all over her face. He grabbed her wrist, eying the cut, and shook his head. He applied pressure to it, and fumbled for his wand again.

And so, Boris teleported to his private doctor's house and got the doctor to come over within minutes. They helped Olivia into the bed, and cleaned her cuts, and everything, dressing her and so on. Eventually, she was in the bed, sleeping.

"Christ," she croaked upon being woken. In truth, she hadn't lost quite enough to render her comatose. Only to black her out a while. Considering how close she was to sleep in the first place, she'd simply stayed that way until being so shaken. "Head's killing me."

Boris was sitting in a chair, in the back. He stood up instantly, and ran over to her side. He hugged her tightly, burying his face into her hair. "You're awake," he whispered.

Olivia stared up at the ceiling lamp, squinting somewhat, allowing herself to readjust to the light. "Sure."
