| I'd like to hear some ideas on this. Type of administration, how do they rule. Remember this is ALL POST-POTTER. No holocaust shit, that's not gonna happen. Keep it relatively realistic, and DETAILED!!
because frankly i'm kinda stumped as to how there could be anyone opposing potterism. like, point out flaws with that and stuff.
idk i'm bad at trying to pull group input in aaaaah OTL just heeelp.

| "Calliope: Are the Muggle and Magical worlds ever going to be rejoined? JKR: No, the breach was final, although as book six shows, the Muggles are noticing more and more odd happenings now that Voldemort's back." http://www.beyondhogwarts.com/story.20040304.html(i just want to point this out in case it comes up again, because it always does whenever we discuss plot shenanigans, and i want this to be the ONE CANON we actually pay attention to 'cuz it's important. also voldy's gone so all these strange things have prolly stopped and muggles are most likely moving on with their lives like nothing ever happened) Alright, so, http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Wizarding_world#Government is really helpful, but a general gist of the system is that the Ministry controls the British wizards and all three branches we know of (legislative, judiciary, and executive) are tied in and mixed together. Something I found interesting was that the Wizengamot and Council of Magical Law hold trials for criminals--however, these trails are slated against criminals from the get-go (no lawyers, no arbitrator, no possibility to appeal), so I'm thinking that maybe someone who was wronged by the court system (a family member wrongly convicted with no way to appeal the case) would see this as a significant flaw in Potterism (idk maybe tie that in with harry winning his trial while having dumbledore by his side? so this person could see the system as corrupt), and try to overturn it. But, for the goal of overturning the system to come to life, the person would have to join up with a politician that would run for minister/be next in line, because the system was handed to Harry, and this person wants an overthrow of the government in general (maybe it's not necessarily a Potterism thing--it's an anarchy thing), so naturally you'd need someone next in line on your side so you can get your plan of overhaul going ASAP. That's pretty much the only opening (within reason) that I see. The detailing of the Ministry's government is fairly brief, unfortunately. | |

| I have a flaw in Potterism.
There is no denying that the Wizarding society is a classist, elitist one. To be an upper citizen in this hierarchy, you must have a "certain" purity of blood, a certain amount of wealth, having a renowned family name, an elite job, have a certain attitude towards Muggles etc.
For a person who isn't living under these conditions, life would be pretty frustrating. They would be frowned upon and not thought as highly of. A Muggle-born's child would not have the same opportunities with as a Pureblood.
Much like you see happening in real life, people would grow angry and resentful if they have to submit to these conditions for so long. People would want to change, or demand for their government to change. And let's face it-how strong would Harry Potter be as a leader economically speaking?

| For me, I see that post-Battle of Hogwarts, people become a lot more respectful and tolerant of varying blood and socioeconomic statuses. Like, the Battle was an example of when greed and all of that gets out of control. Also, keep in mind that Potterism occurs 20 years later--various "civil rights" initiatives would be taken (or something like that), and acceptance would be much more widespread. And social castes/hierarchies exist in every civilization to some degree, so I don't think that's much of a government fault as it is a fault of human nature.
Fault within economic leadership is a good idea, though. Have you any thoughts on it?

| I can see your point. But the social issues would take a while to resolve. That sort of social change is a very gradual process. It takes a short time to destroy something and cause chaos, but it takes much longer for things to be rebuilt and fixed.
Well... Harry Potter never really grew up in poverty, even living with his aunt and uncle. At least he had a bedroom, clothes, and food. He didn't have to pay any bills. And as an adult Wizard, he got a job as an Auror, and those are apparent high paying. And if something WERE to happen, he would have his inheritance to fall back on. I doubt he would know what it means to "struggle' in that sense.

| more brainstorming!!! so liv got me into wanting to do a flow chart and yeah. no idea what to do for 6th and 7th years but here's the basic ideas for 1-5. 1-4 are canon as far as i know and 5 is just brainstorming on my part. a hitler-like leader, with less genocide. probably just power-thirsty. it needs a lot of fleshing out. maybe he comes into power right after potter and doesn't start making major changes until 2 years later? (and if it becomes canon i would love to be said power-thirsty politician if that's okay with everyone else) and this is just a bunch of notes some of it probably doesn't make sense/is redundant but it makes sense to me ok | |

| I already saw the flow chart, because Beth posted the links in the chatbox earlier. I really like how they are looking so far! And by the way, I would love for Hugh to be dictator as well.
Anyway, I don't know if you read this, but I mentioned that the Basilisk outbreak could be in a conspiracy, and help the fuel the want for change. With so many kids getting sick, this could cause an uproar on how the school is being run, and in effect, how the government is.
