| Amanda was sprawled out in her unmade bed. No matter how many times the phone rang, or Watson the cat nudged her for attention, she could not motivate herself to get up. Her eighteenth birthday had come and gone, though it passed quite memorably (Melenie took her out for a night long rave) Sure, she should hunt for a part time job before her freshmen year at Pendragon U. started, but what was the point? She could simply mooch off of her adoptive parents and her inheritance from her late birth parents until the summer was over.
She sighed, rolling over again and sounding an annoyed squawk from Watson. He hissed at her before strutting off to go watch birds from the window.
Amanda couldn't bring herself to look at the clock. She had probably wasted half of her day lounging in her own filth, books, and drowning in music from whichever album was blasting out of her Walkman (which was currently One Hot Minute). After rolling around in bed for another fifteen minutes, Amanda hummed along to the last lyrics of My Friends and forcing herself to glance at the clock.
8:58am.
How the hell were people so good at sleeping in till the middle of the afternoon?
With all the energy she had, Amanda broke free from her blanket cocoon. After feeding the cat and putting the waffles in the toaster (her new favorite cooking appliance) Amanda sat down in front of the television with a quill and parchment off to the side.

you tried Minutes later, the waffles were crispy and ready to be smothered in syrup-flavored product. Then, of all the most blatant giveaways to her wizarding connections, an owl began to rap against the den window.

| in other news i suck
Amanda, though glad to finally get an owl, was quite frustrated that just when her waffles were at their gooey, delicious peak the owl came. After a minute long debate whether or not immediate hunger or immediate curiosity was more important, Amanda let the owl in and excitedly ripped at the letter.

| Had Amanda not decimated the envelope so quickly, she could have noticed the lack of a return address. It wasn't of much importance anyway; all she needed was there in the letter itself. - Quote :

| One must remember that with the minute lifespan of deliciousness that comes with waffles, there must be some sacrifices.
But since Amanda was entirely oblivious to the lack of a return address, she scarfed down the waffles and spent the rest of the day modeling slinky dresses for Watson and re-doing her make-up over and over.
