PostSubject: One Saturday, at lunch...   One Saturday, at lunch... Icon_minitimeSun Aug 07, 2011 5:56 pm

The crisp, iceburg lettuce made a delicious snapping noise in the vice of the boy's molars. The tip of his tongue peeled at the layer of white bread adhering itself to the roof of his mouth. His tastebuds tingled at the touch of the salted roast beef as it slid, masticated to the point of mush, down his esophagus. The boy was going to start something, then and there. What, he wasn't sure. But he would, and he fully intended to, and he had the heart and the soul and the physical ability to initiate whatever it was. His eyes moved to a dish of pudding -- fruit pudding of some sort, perhaps citrus of some sort -- and the gears began to turn. How might the laws of physics choose to bring ruin to that delightful piece of culinary commonplace? What sort of noise would it make splattering against the black cloth of someone's backside? Slowly, he set down his half-eaten sandwich corner. Slowly, almost mechanically, he dipped his chubby fingers into the cool, gelatinous cake and with one, catapulting motion, hurled it across the great hall at his target: an unfortunate Ravenclaw who had just happened to be standing, arms outspread, giving some elaborate demonstration about the twin moons of mars.

Another boy sat beside the citrus pudding flinger. He paid no notice to this boy's considerably cruel action, yet was in an entirely different world of his own. The overly soggy tuna sandwich in front of him was untouched, besides the occasional nudge where the boy had hopefully moved it, an optimistic movement in hopes that there was one last curly fry under it. This boy was uncharacteristically quiet that sunny Saturday afternoon. Similar to the iceburg letter devourer, this boy was fixated on the cause/reaction of another target, who was also a Raven Claw. What would happen if he got the guts to stand up, and proclaim his natural liking to this girl?

Would she say yes and embrace him like in the boy's mother's cheesy Romance movies?

Would she deny, and awkwardly make a leap for the exit?

Or would she flat out screech at him and disgust?

Yes, on that sunny Saturday afternoon this Gryffindor was quite uncharacteristically paranoid. He decided against any advance towards this girl and went back to prodding his overly soggy tuna sandwich.

After an awkward moment of silence, this boy recognized the other and his (most likely) unintentional action and reaction.

"FOOD FIGHT!"

"AAAAGH!" screeched the poor defenseless Ravenclaw. This was just like in Victor's worst nightmares-someone had the 'brilliant' idea of starting a food fight, and he happened to be the chosen target. But, for some reason, he always imagined being hit by some mashed potato concoction, instead of orange pudding. Without even realizing it, he grabbed the textbook he was studying (A Beginner's Guide To Transfiguration) and held it up to his face. It would work as some sort of shield, as he didn't know to conjure one up.

Will however was in his element. He quickly whipped out his wand, and began levitating foods, and hurling them across the Great Hall, at various students. Billows DID said that he needed to practice, and there he was now.

The young Gryffindor smirked, getting to his feet and scooping up another handful of pudding. Without thinking, he flung it in another direction, hitting a toeheaded first year on the back of the head. As the girl screeched, he quickly crouched beneath the table in preparation for the oncoming retaliation.

"Hey, Prat."

Will had ducked himself under the bench as well as the boy. With a sly grin on his face, he charmed a bowl of vegetable soup to levitate beside him, and then go hurling into his face.

Matt jumped onto his feet, taking his tuna and a few bowls of mystery yogurt with him under the table. Every half minute he's send scoops of the yogurt into the air, plopping them on random students. He knew mastering at least this bit of charms came in handy! With a grin worthy of the Marauders, he sprung out of hiding and manually began to throw the scoops.

The boy let out a yelp as the soup scalded whatever his flinching forearm didn't reflect. "That hurt, you... gaah!" he cried, trying to wipe his stinging face.

Will snickered, and he climbed out from under the table, and he resumed throwing things around, and hitting other students, including Matthew himself.

Phil, during this chaos was simply just continuing to read his book, occasionally pausing to nag at Matt.

"You're going to get into detention, you know." he said, as he studied Matt who was covered in salad dressing.

"It's not worth living if all you do is live through books, Phil!" Matthew yelled, attempting to be heard over the hectic food fight.

Not noticing it was Will Sawyer who threw it, Matthew cussed under his breath and threw what remainded of his yogurt bowls straight at Will's face.

Tears had welled up in the boy's eyes simply on reflex from the pain. However, he was soon back on his feet, hurling toast like the best of them.

Naturally, the teachers had begun to stir.

"AGH, HEY!" Will yelled. Will was in the middle of chucking a bowl of apple sauce at Josiah Silva's shiny brown hair. He physically picked up the nearest plate of food (some turkey sandwiches), and he threw it right at Matthew's face, manually.

Matthew slowly raised his hand to his face, wiping off the mixture of salad dressing and turkey slabs. He roughly stuffed his wand into his back pocket right before grabbing the plate of tuna sandwiches and, using his bare hands, chucked it at Will in retaliation.

"Ugh, damn it!" Will snapped, trying away the sandwiches. He had always despised tuna, even as a little kid. Reaching over, he picked up a bowl of cherry jam, and then stuffed on top of the boy's head.

Kyle was completely unaware that anything chaotic was occurring in the Great Hall. He honestly couldn't tell the noise level was any different then when it usually was. He walked in with his usual position- chest puffed out proudly and standing tall, but his eyes widened a bit at the scene in front of him.

The bowl landed on Matthew's head mid-laugh. He gave a bit of a squawk in protest, but quickly shook the shock and removed it. Salad dressing, turkey, and jam dripped off of him in a rainbow array of colors. He went red, and after using a word that Amanda word have magically silenced him for, took the plate of butter beside him and smooshed it into Will's shirt.

Leah strolled into the Great Hall closely behind Kyle, with Brian, the two talking happily about the Charms teacher.

Will stared at that prat in disbelief. This was getting all too much now. Sure, it was fun and games beforehand, but this was before the tuna and butter. All that was too much.

So, he of course, tackled Matt slightly, and began to pummel him. Just a bit, of course.

~

Anthony was not one to miss out on the fun. So, with careful aim, he chucked a plate of mashed potatoes of some Hufflepuff boy's head. He, of course, didn't realize that this was Kyle Jones the Upperclassmen.

Leah gasped as some potato sprayed from Kyle and right onto her chest. "What the Hell?! What's going on in here?!" she gasped, stepping in a bit more, only to be hit by a flying sausage. "Oh, that's absurd!" she gasped, looking at her feet where she slipped slightly on a fallen egg.

Brian looked frightened, and was slowly beginning to inch out of the Great Hall, eying Anthony anxiously.

Matthew gave a shout as he was tackled. At first he allowed it, confused. This jerk had started it, it's not as if- but then that tiny sensor in the back of his head went off, that one that shouted, 'Kid you're going to get us killed'. If he was going to fall, Matt decided he was going to do so swinging as hard as he could. He fought back, getting a good handful of punches in. Will had a very large advantage being two years older though.

~

Kyle slowed looked down at the white muck soiling his clean robes. He went a bit stiff as he did so, and as if in slow motion, looked up and straight into Anthony's eyes with a glare that said in a voice similar to Kyle's, 'You're screwed.' Silently he moved his wand over the potatoes- his robes were clean again. Kyle was not one to forgive and he threw one last killer glare before storming out.

~

Jennifer was hiding under a table, watching her brother and an upperclassmen fight. She was quite shocked by the food fight itself, let alone seeing Matt in a physical fight.

Josiah ran his hand through the back of his hair. From it he pulled globs of applesauce, slipping from his fingers in an odd disgusting slime. He discarded his cloak, setting it under the table away from harm. He rolled up his sleeves, grabbing an apple and pitching it across the Hall. He was surprised by how fast it flew--and laughed when it hit some Hufflepuff in the shoulder. It was too bad he didn't know any charms that could lift and hurl an object--besides Wingardium Leviosa, and that was just too slow. He went by physically throwing stuff. Why not?

Brian ran over to Anthony, ducking this and that. "A-Anthony! What happened? Why is everyone all over the place like this! Who started it?"

~

Leah went to sit at the Gryffindor table, looking vastly unimpressed. She turned to a scrawny hunched up being holding an open book with tense hands as though shielding his face, but also reading it.
"Hey, Cam, how's it goin?" she asked, first reaching for a bowl of chicken soup, before it was grabbed out of her hands by a third year and chucked across the room. "Hey, WHAT THE HELL! I was going to eat that, you inconsiderate arse!" she snapped, the boy completely ignoring her. "God, to think that-" Suddenly, she felt something disgusting and gooey smack her in the back. It made her shiver in disgust from the hit. Cam pulled the book down, finally saying something. "Oh, that's gross." he then began to laugh. Leah sighed, clearly ticked off, and then reached for a chicken leg.

Will gagged a bit, as he was punched in the stomach. That really hurt, and having a gag reflex didn't help it one bit. He quickly scooted away from Matthew, and after one final swing, and a rather rude gesture at him. Will turned back to his friend Derek, and the two of them began went back, throwing more projectiles at a rather innocently looking Slytherin girl.

~

Anthony simply laughed aloud at Brian. "I don't know who started it or anything, but isn't it great!" He himself had the front of his school robes covered in some sort of chowder thing, and he was smelling a lot like fish.

"I'd be careful if I were you though," he warned, ducking as a pie went flying overhead.

Brian laughed. He didn't mind the smell, it's not like the Great Hall smelt any better. "Why me?" he said, ducking from a hard-boiled egg partially eaten.

Matt groaned, already feeling some bruises forming. He grabbed Phil's shoulder and managed to grunt, "Bathroom-now-please." He stared at his friend as if he was a sick puppy in need of a home.

The boy, meanwhile, who had started all of this, was down on his hands and knees, weaving his way between horrified bodies and swinging legs beneath the table, trying to make his way to the door. His work was done.

Phil rolled his eyes, but he swept off the bench, and he stared down at the lump that was Matt. "Alright alright, let's hurry then. Come on, pull yourself up!"

~

"If you don't want to get dirty, I mean." Anthony explained. "But, if you do..." And he eyed a plate of stewed vegetables to the side of them.
