That Little Overpass Thing That Was In The Third Movie

Ah, life. The joys and misery that it brings us.

It was a rather chilly January afternoon, but Victor Sawyer did not care about the weather. He just wanted to get out of that stuffy old castle. Besides, he was nice in warm in his uniform and the Ravenclaw scarf that he was given at the beginning of the year.

Victor was staring down in the little canyon with a little river creaking along to the Black Lake, that he was standing over. It seemed so odd how that river had carved out the valley over a period of millions and millions years ago. His mother used to hint that God had made it Himself during Genesis, in their old Bible lessons, but Victor had gotten a hold of some Geology books before long. To him, the miracle that God created of the river weathering and creating the valley was more awe-striking than Him making it Himself.

And, he couldn't help but painfully notice that the things rolling around in his head were so much more trivial than he would have liked them to be. But things that were on his mind were just as heavy, to him anyway:

The pitfalls of popularity.

Okay, so he never really expected himself to be as popular as Will and have the school twisted around his pinkie finger, but it still would have been pleasant. Or, at least have more friends that didn't think that playing a game of Titanium Chronicles was the only possible way to have fun.

His eyes bore into the canyon at an even deeper rate. Well, there WERE some perks of his geekiness: he liked being smart, and being respected in that aspect. And... well, at least he didn't have to worry about what he did in public. His image was already established. And... that was about all he could think of.

Were all his siblings like him? No, not exactly.

Sophia had friends enough, but they were always the 'weird' kids, as most of the self-acclaimed ones couldn't handle her energy and enthusiasm (Not that he could blame them, Sophia was tiring enough, especially if you lived with her.). And she hung out with that Hugh kid. Personally Victor didn't know much about him, but Sophia WAS hanging out with him a whole awful much. Next came James. Okay, that kid had friends, but he wasn't exactly all around well-liked. He was sort of bossy and arrogant, and thought of himself higher than others. But yet, he could be such a sissy with the littlest things. It was so obnoxious, but beneath that exterior, he truly had a heart of gold. Then came Will, the golden child.

Nowhemust have stolen all the popularity genes. Victor concluded. Sunny and bright, Will seemed to dominate the Gryffindor house, and knowing him, he probably had his high sets on ruling the entire Hogwarts hierarchy. That little bastard. Emily was next in line. She... was a strange case. She had all the qualifications to be popular, and she was very nice, but she was so... desperate. She was always throwing herself in utter abandon towards the popular people, desperately wanting to be one of them. This, sort of backfired on her. Sure, she had friends, but she was by no means popular.

Oh, and the way she acted around that Dustin kid in Victor and Emily's house? Completely disgusting. It was almost embarrassing to say that he and Emily were related, let alone twins. Hopefully, that girl will get her head out of the clouds and sharpen up.

Anthony still hadn't started school yet, but, based on the social interactions Victor had seen him display, it looks like he'll be heading down the path Victor had created. Oh well, at least that kid had a path to follow.

And here was Victor, trudging along the path. The path called school, where it ended at the shining town called Graduation. And, by the things that had been going on in Victor's life, he sincerely hoped it was sooner or later. After all, it was tiring to have all your 'friends' wanting you to help with their schoolwork all the time.

Sigh.

"YO VICKY-V!" yelled a voice, and then a hand smacked upside Victor's head. "Why the long face?" Leah said, beaming down at him.

Victor looked up, and his face softened a little. Leah Brown, a friend of his. If you could call them friends. When he hung out with her, sometimes he felt so... awkward. But this moment, he was grateful for his presence.

"Uh, well, I'm thinking about the perils of popularity." he replied rather blatantly, looking up at her. Leah was a rather tall girl, compared to Victor who had always been on the shorter side, like the rest of the family. Except Sophia, who was even taller than their father, though by an inch.

Leah beamed. "Popularity? Seriously? The Great Victorious One is thinking of POPULARITY? Even I couldn't care less! I mean come on. You've got friends, Vic! You've got me, you've got your twin- oh well, no offense but that's not a good thing... But, c'mon, buddy! Liven up!"

Victor rolled his eyes. "Oh, stop looking so cheeky! You're not that brilliant." But, he smiled faintly at her, to show he was feeling a bit better. "And, it's not like YOU know anything. You cast your own sort of uh... special respect around school."

Leah stopped grinning. She looked dazed, in a flattered form of sense. "I do?" she asked strangely. "Really? Already? WOW! Vic, what do people say about me?"

Victor suddenly shifted his weight to one leg uncomfortably. Okay, now what should he say without upsetting Leah.

"Um... they talk about how, uh... STRONG you are!" he said, as that was the first thing that popped into his mind.

"Really?" Leah rolled her eyes. "You're lying, dumbass. Guess what, Vic! I know who you should be friends with! That shy boy Adam!"

"Well, would you rather tell me the truth?" he replied curtly, pouting slightly. "And besides, me and Adam are friends... kind of. I try to be friendly, but it's his fault-he mostly keeps to himself."

"Well, no I don't want to hear the truth. I might hurt you. And yeah, we've got to CRACK him..."

"Leah!" Victor suddenly jumped right into standing up straight. "You don't just go ahead cracking people to make them your friend! That's just scaring them off! And besides, you shouldn't hurt me just for saying what I heard." he chastised.

"I meant cracking through that outer crust of his and right to the meat! Where the real him is!" Leah said this with many unpleasant hand motions. It looked as though she were miming decapitating a poor animal and digging her hands right into it's guts.

Victor wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying-but instead, those rather creepy hand motions. Had Leah always been this demented, or had she been influenced by the kids at school.

"But Leah, that isn't very nice!" he exclaimed, finally founding his voice. "And besides, who do you hang out with?"

"My cousin, Matilda, and Caroline! We're an awesome threesome, us three! How about you, Vicky-V?"

"Um..." he stared down at his rather small hand, and began to tick off, using his fingers.

"Uh, there's Robert, and that Luke kid, and Zack sort of, and I guess Adam, and some other people..." he trailed off.

"Whoah! You're getting yourself a group of friends, huh?" Leah said beaming, while nudging him with her elbow in the shoulder. "Are they really good friends for you?"

Victor laughed weakly, and shook his head. For someone who thought of herself so smartly, Leah was rather empty-headed at times.

"If you count stealing homework as a sign of friendship, then we're just best buddies, all of us, but some of them are pretty good friends. But the others... they don't know when to stop taking advantage of me." he explained.

"WHAT?! Who the HELL is doing that?!"

"It doesn't matter." Victor said quickly. "Honestly, I'm not fazed by it-I already talked to them anyway." Indeed, Victor didn't seem to be too emotionally bothered by all of this. "Besides," he gave her a reproachful look. "I don't want you to get into another detention. You get into enough trouble."

Leah rolled her eyes. "Whatever you say, O Victorious One."

Victor smirked. "I wish my name was actually Victorious. That would be cool." He looked over at her. "Hey, is Leah short for something? Is your real name like Leanne or something?"

"Yes, but I don't like the name Leanne. And Victorious WOULD be cool!"

"Victorious is too weird though, but who knows?" Victor shrugged a little. "Wizards and witches always have weird names-I've met someone named Andromeda once."

"That's a cool name, y'know! I love the name Luna. My aunt said there was somebody in her house when she went here called Luna."

"Luna? Like lunatic?" Victor suggested.
