2nd Year Boys Dorm

The clock tower at struck twelve times twenty some odd minutes ago, and the castle was near completely quieted and dark. Those who were frolicking through the halls at hour most likely were furry and had tails. Among the snores of the Gryffindor common room was the scratching of quill on parchment, hasty scratching actually.

Sitting on a pile of tossed around sheets, a disgruntled looking Matthew Summerfield was focused intently on his paper. His back was arched since he was using the night table beside his bed to write on, and his was criss cross apple sauce in the middle of the actual bed. He held his wand in his right hand as his left hand continued to furiously write, casting a continuous Lumos spell. God, why did I put this off so long!? We had a week! An entire frigin week!

"Matt, go to bed!" Phil hissed at him. Phil's bed was right next to Matt's, and as a result, he had a bright light shiny right at him. Phil's blue eyes were staring at him sharply, and his arms were folded together. "Why can't you just get up early and do it the morning before?" Phil demanded to know.

Matt looked at Phil like a puppy just caught in the act- wide eyed and softly whimpering. Of course, his whimper was fake. "You know I'm not good at waking up very early! It's much easy to stay up late!" He urgently whispered back, continuing to flash Lumos at his paper. Only a few more lines...

"Shut up!" Two pillows went flying in Matt and Phil's direction, both missing by quite a few feet.

"Aww, come on!" Phil lowered his voice to a whisper now, to not disturb the other boys. "ANYONE can get up early if they really set their mind to it..." he urged. He shook his head to himself, and sighed.

"That's the Charms essay, isn't it? You had a week to do it, and I'm not helping you!" And Phil closed the curtains around his bed, and rolled over on his side away from the light, so it wouldn't bug him.

Matt was quiet for a minute, he was almost done, and was just currently mooching a conclusion. He had not actually preprocessed what Phil had said to him until a minute later. Then, he flung a pillow at Phil, and spoke in a similar whisper, "Do you want your paper back then?"

"WAIT WHAT?!" Phil actually shouted and sat up in bed.

"Oh, shut up!" One of the other boys hissed dangerously, and he threw another pillow, but Phil just ignored it, and he bounded over to Matt's bed to give him a talking-to.

"Were you copying my paper the entire time?! Matthew Summerfield I'm going to KILL you!"

Matthew shut the book he was using and grinned devishly, lifting the darkening bags under his eyes. "Hell no, I'm not that dumb. I was just basing off of it for the conclusion. I'm terrible at those. Calm down though!" Matt started to dim out his wand. "Don't you know what time it is!?"

Phil rolled his eyes. "Of course I do. It's 4:30 in the morning; I get up at this time every single day." And without another word, he crawled back into his bed, and he was soon fast asleep.

Matthew contained a laugh, it was good to know Phil was completely out of it. It was only 12...Matt glanced at his watch, 23! He put Phil's paper on the far side of the night table, his on the other, and fell back to sleep himself.

[I can't help but read Phil's dialogue with a gay lisp.]
