Charms (1st Year)

"WinGAARdium LeviOOOsa!" chanted Adam, twirling his wand at the motionless feather. He'd always seen magic performed with the flair he was now attempting to poorly imitate. His face fell when he saw that his flourishing wasn't having any sort of effect.

"No, you're doing it wrong!" Victor exclaimed, placing a hand on Adam's hand to prevent him from doing all the twirly stuff again. He rolled up his sleeves, and pushed his glasses back up on the bridge of his nose, as they were slipping off. He never missed a chance to explain something to some other 'in need' student.

"See, it's not all about the fancy things you do. Just keep it clean and simple." And with a a clean 'swish and flick' movement Victor described, he managed to make the feather float a couple feet in the air.

"You didn't even have to say it," marveled Adam, who then copied the boy's motion with his own wand. "Wingardium Leviosa!"

"Yeah, you just have to practice a bit," as Victor studied the feather that lifted up a couple inches, but he still looked a little smug. "And thanks... I guess I just have a knack with Charms."

"Oh," said Adam. He then tried again, brow furrowing as he focused. "Wingardium Leviosa." The feather lifted a little bit higher, and Adam smiled at his own progress. "I've been sort of bad at it so far."

"Really! Well, maybe I can tutor you?" Victor suggested. "I'll only charge you two knuts per lesson." Hey, might as well create a little profit if he was going to start a business.

"I'm... trying to save," said Adam, looking sheepish. "I didn't get much allowance." He hadn't received any, in fact.

"Oh, I understand, I never got any allowance at all." Victor replied earnestly.

Leah entered the class with Caroline and Matilda, and the three took seats in the back. This was a pretty cool class after all. "Hey Caroline. What would you do if Will gave you the tongue randomly in the hall?"

"Gave me the tongue? Okay, do you mean kissed me or blew a raspberry at me? There's a difference, you know." Caroline asked. She was a bit out of it, from talking to Will.

"Kissed you, dumbass. But blowing you a raspberry would be SO funny..." Leah said. She imagined this, and began to laugh really hard. "By the way, no, I don't like anyone."

"Uh, everyone take your seats!" cried a voice from the front of the class. It was their teacher, Professor Vector. He was a young thing, in his late twenties. He had slightly curly auburn hair, and brown eyes, and a wide smile that was often showing. Professor Vector was hired a few years ago, after Flitwick retired, as 'he was getting onto his years'. But this new teacher was young, and ready to change the lives of his students forever, as most young teachers do.

"And be careful everyone... don't poke yourself with the pincushions on the desk!" he warned.

"Oh, I'd freak out! But I suppose I'd have enough gumption to kiss him back. I hope. Gosh, wouldn't that be wonderful?" Leah had almost sent Caroline back into dreamland. But, she actually got herself together and LISTENED to Professor Vector. After all, he was a cutie. How could she help but give him her full attention? Poor Caroline, was already stunned by every adorable man she saw.

Leah ignored Caroline. "Pincushions don't poke me, I poke pincushions." Leah mumbled, but loud enough for the group of first years around her to hear.
